鴨下知美

Tomomi Kamoshita (b. 1977) is a ceramic and kintsugi artist born in Tokyo. Graduated from Joshibi University ceramics course in 2000, she specialises in creating pottery and three-dimensional artworks with a focus on shape and colour. In 2010, she was introduced to the modern version of kintsugi technique and has been creating kintsugi and yobitsugi works ever since. She incorporates foreign materials such as sea glass to create a new form of kintsugi called yobitsugi. The new objects fashioned in the process resemble their initial form, but have irregular shapes, places of transparency and opacity, framed by thick brassy lines.

Since 2003, she has held exhibitions both domestically and internationally, including Paris, New York, San Francisco and India. She extends her impact through holding workshops alongside exhibitions in these cities in recent years. In 2019, she published a book on her kintsugi artworks, KINTSUGI – Seeing Light Through the Cracks.
