2026.01.02 - 2026.01.31

Exhibition Statement

Touch Ceramics is honored to present The 2026 Lunar New Year Exhibition—a two-chapter celebration unfolding in January and February under the themes "Nascent Spring · Dazzling Spark" and "Heart of Spring · Lucid Flow." This curated collection embodies the vibrant brilliance and serene beauty of Japanese craftsmanship, welcoming the spirited Year of the Horse with artistry that resonates deeply. Each selected piece is a treasure for collectors, an exquisite addition to any living space or a graceful gift that conveys heartfelt sentiment.

In January, the first chapter, "Primal Spring · Dazzling Dance," unveils works that pulse with the rhythm of life—bold, passionate, and expressive. The exhibition brings together gold and silver glazed ceramics, lacquer art, Kutani ware, heartwarming ceramic and paintings, and rare luminous shell crafts. Featured artists include:

Toru Ichikawa — Breathing primal life into Bizen clay, he channels crimson, metallic black, gold, and silver into forms where raw texture meets inner vitality.

Nanami Seki — Crystallizes millennia of mineral inspiration, lacquer tradition, and mother-of-pearl inlay into contemporary stone-like sculptures. Through geometric deconstruction, she reveals the beauty of natural crystallization, endowing each piece with a profound presence and mystical luminance.

Kanko Umeda — With the vivid palette of Kutani ware, she crafts a world reminiscent of illustrated storybooks. Animals and florals dance across her vessels, while intricate patterns weave three-dimensional poetry—a symphony of color and form that delights and soothes the soul.

Yasuhito Kawasaki — His ceramic and painted works, centered on the iconic blue bear and animal companions, tenderly reflect the artist’s inner child. For the Year of the Horse, his new pieces invite viewers to celebrate the season alongside these lifelong friends

.

Kiyono Touma — Reviving the legendary “Seiryū Shell Cup” from a millennium past, she spends months sculpting Okinawan luminous shells into vessels that glow with the deep-sea iridescence of moonlight on waves—a wish to “shine brightly” captured in the palm of one’s hand.

We warmly invite you to experience this radiant dance of life and craft. May this exhibition accompany you into a Year of the Horse filled with the promise of blessings carried on galloping hooves and a future as luminous as the art with you.
