Heart of Spring · Lucid Flow
The 2026 Lunar New Year Exhibition
2026.02.01 - 2026.02.28
In honor of the Year of the Horse, Touch Ceramics proudly presents The 2026 Lunar New Year Exhibition, celebrating the radiant brilliance and serene refinement of Japanese craftsmanship, welcoming the new year with an exquisite selection of works destined for discerning collections, elegant living spaces, or as gifts of profound beauty.
Following the vibrant opening of "Nascent Spring · Dazzling Spark" in January, where art danced with unrestrained vitality, we now enter the heart of the New Year season with “Heart of Spring · Lucid Flow”. This chapter invites contemplation amidst quiet beauty—where simplicity mirrors infinity and purity conceals profound richness.
7 featured artists include:
Shigeyuki Tamba
Drawing from the elegant, seasonal essence of Hokkaido, Niwa employs precise carving techniques to capture the suspended moment just before a flower blooms. His works, defined by fluid curves and crisp edges, hold this transient anticipation in timeless form.
Mika Noguchi
Transforming inspiration from nature into ethereal poetry of light and void, Noguchi masters the “Hotaru-de” piercing technique (literally “firefly hand”; also known as rice-grain porcelain). Her vessels become breathing stained-glass windows as light passes through their delicate perforations, narrating gentle, lively whispers of the natural world through the shifting interplay of shadow and illumination.
Youtarou Isezaki
Coming from a renowned Bizen ware family, Isezaki boldly bridges tradition and cutting-edge technology. In this collection, he boldly merges AI-generated anime imagery with unglazed firing, allowing the earthy, mottled surface of Bizen clay to bear the digital imprints of a new generation—a testament to the sparks ignited where heritage meets the future.
Manami Okayasu
With a rhythmic touch, Okayasu composes visual poetry upon clay through her signature technique of hand-applied glaze granules. This method builds a textured order that is both precise and warmly tactile, a harmonious combination of the disciplined craft and intuitive expression.
Shieri Hoki
Through blowing, heat-forming, and hand-painting, Hoki forever captures the precious, ephemeral meetings with nature in the spirit of “Ichigo Ichie”—one lifetime, one meeting. In her glass, the ephemeral beauty of a snowflake or falling leaf is granted a graceful rebirth.
Ichiro Kato
With textured cloth impressions creating subtle depth and layered gold accents delicately outlining forms, Kato’s work is a masterful fusion of traditional techniques and modern geometry. Continuous patterns and gradient hues undulate like waves across the vessel’s shape, dancing in a contemporary Japanese aesthetic where simplicity and elegance coexist in harmony.
Chiemi Takaki
Within a universe of soft, sweet hues, Takaki traces the vitality of blossoms with delicate gold lines. Her lavish, layered florals compose a harmonious duet of abundance and tenderness, presenting a Japanese aesthetic where charming appeal and refined elegance gracefully coexist.
As the seasons turn, beauty abides. We warmly invite you to step into the realm of clarified vision this month, to immerse in the quietude of art and reflect upon beginnings. May this gift of clarity accompany you into a Year of the Horse filled with luminous insight, serenity and grace.
