Mika Sato (b. 1970) was born and raised in Kanagawa, Japan. She began learning ceramic art by herself at a young age and in 2006, she enrolled in the Izumi Ceramic Art Institute to further her education. Sato specialises in the "Nerikomi" technique, developing a unique style that combines traditional techniques with modern sensibilities.

Sato’s work is known for its delicate translucency, light weight, and clear coloration. Unlike traditional clay-based ceramics, Sato uses porcelain materials for their ease of use and to create beautiful colours. Her works are inspired by the natural world and the beauty of everyday objects, as well as traditional Japanese art and aesthetics.

Sato's dedication to her craft has earned her worldwide recognition, her unique approach to ceramic art and her dedication to her craft have made her a highly respected and sought-after artist in the field. Her works continue to inspire and captivate audiences around the world, and are exhibited in various galleries and exhibitions in Japan and beyond.
